Mariemont - A One-Stop Shop

Mariemont - A One-Stop Shop

It takes a village... and Mariemont is just that. Located on the Eastern side of Columbia Parkway, this charming and historic corner of Cincinnati is “a one-stop shop”. Honored as a National Historic Landmark and one of the only few planned communities in the U.S., Mariemont offers a variety of family-friendly destinations for dining and recreation. Designed and planned by Marie Emery in 1922, the English-tutor style architecture and tree lined canopied streets offers one of the most unique and picturesque backdrops in the Cincinnati area. Once you begin your drive through you immediately feel like you’ve traveled back in time to an old English village - minus the wagons and goats, etc.

All within a block of Mariemont Square, you’ve got every meal pretty much covered. If you are looking for one of the best brunch menus in Cincinnati, you don’t have to look any further than The National Exemplar located in the historic Mariemont Inn. And while you are waiting for a table, you can enjoy your morning coffee while sitting by one of the two fireplaces in the hotel lobby at the Southerby’s bar. While the decor may resemble a Rocky Mountain chalet, you might want to leave your skis at the door. Also for beer or wine enthusiasts, there is a lunch and dinner joint just down the sidewalk in the Mariemont Strand that will most likely get you into trouble any day of the week; known simply as “Dilly”. What does the name mean? No idea - but you don’t want to miss it. Whether you are there for lunch or dinner you can always count on Dilly’s stellar beer or wine list. And on a nightly basis they also have some of the best live music in the city. For dessert, go on upstairs to the Sweetery for a cookie or cupcake that would resemble a work of art in most galleries. For a slightly more sportcoat-but-no-tie type of evening The Quarter Bistro right next to the Mariemont Theater is one of the nicest restaurants in the Cincinnati area. It’s amazing food and proximity to the theater in the Mariemont town square makes it an obvious choice for dinner and a movie. And after that movie you can walk next door and enjoy another Cincinnati treasure - Graeter’s ice cream. The diet starts Monday.
